About ACCA USA
ACCA US is an important link in an increasingly sophisticated and global ACCA structure. Although ACCA membership in the US is not large, the US is a significant market for financial expertise and thus of importance to ACCA. At a meeting with the New York area members, ACCA Global Chief Executive Allen Blewitt said, "An active and vigorous ACCA presence is critical in achieving professional and market recognition in the US ."
ACCA US was formally established in New York in 1986 with 280 members and 193 students residing in the US . Today membership is over 2500. From the beginning, its mission has included a balanced mix of social activities together with opportunities for professional development, and networking events to address issues of reciprocity, establish educational equivalency and promote employment opportunities.
Building on the work of those first leaders, many of whom are still active today, ACCA US finds itself poised for the future. The ACCA US leadership team: the officers and committee members of ACCA US are committed to developing the membership and increasing awareness of ACCA in the US .
The long term objective of ACCA US is to achieve recognition in the marketplace for the valuable contribution it makes to the global economy and workforce through the effective distribution of information to targeted organizations and individuals throughout the US with regular follow up. To sustain a strong and dynamic membership, ACCA US is also committed to maintaining on-going contact with members and students through a series of Chapter meetings and events throughout the country.

In support of the goals identified above ACCA US plans to -
- develop surveys, conduct research, and create programs to enhance ACCA's contribution to the accounting profession and to members and students.
- develop a multifaceted mailing list to enable ACCA US to be in contact with local, regional, state, national and international organizations as well as recruiting firms and key individuals;
- conduct a high-profile annual general meeting with an industry leader as keynote speaker and VIP guests;
- create and present programs of interest on international business issues
- prepare and distribute press releases on ACCA US issues;
- explore links with target universities to offer ACCA curriculum components;
- meet with local area representatives to foster chapter development;
- provide active chapters with administrative and logistical support;
- maintain a directory of state board accountancy and state CPA society contact information;
- maintain information on Sate Board of Accountancy requirements for applying to sit the Uniform CPA examination (while no reciprocity exists).
- provide an opportunity for ACCA delegates visiting in the US to meet with US chapters;
- provide exam centers in June and December;
- provide information on accounting industry recruiters.
These programs and activities are made possible through the active participation and commitment of members and students. Every aspect of ACCA US operations benefits from the involvement of members and students, and their input and ideas on the topics and issues which concern them as part of the global workforce. Their suggestions on how ACCA US can be helpful to members and students working and studying in the US are greatly appreciated.
ACCA and ACCA US share a vision of being the resource for accounting professionals who have been trained to function at the highest level in a global economy and workforce. ACCA and ACCA US also share a vision of promoting awareness of ACCA members and students in US organizations as significant contributors to excellence in all aspects of financial management. Members and students can help realize these visions by maintaining the highest standards of performance.
