ACCA appoints new Director of Communications & Public Affairs

The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) has appointed Andrew Silverman as its Director of Communications and Public Affairs.
This is a new role within ACCA, which is the world's largest and fastest-growing international professional accountancy body with over 320,000 members and students in 160 countries.
Reporting directly to Chief Executive Allen Blewitt, Andrew Silverman will manage the development and implementation of the ACCA's global media and political communication programmes.
Commenting on his appointment, Andrew Silverman said:
"ACCA plays a key role in corporate governance, financial education and accounting standards. I look forward to delivering further growth in ACCA's membership and developing public policy, in Whitehall, Brussels and beyond. Andrew Silverman spent the first twelve years of his communications career in Whitehall. From 1986-1997 he worked in a variety of roles in the Foreign Office, Home Office, Ministry of Defence and Department of Transport. Following the 1997 General Election he served as Private Secretary to the Minister without Portfolio and then in the 10 Downing Street Strategic Communications Unit.
From 1998-2004 Andrew worked at Brunswick Group Ltd, advising major clients on media handling, public policy, campaign planning and internal communications. These included British Airways, Nomura, The Jockey Club, Provident Financial Group, The Lawn Tennis Association and Business in the Community.
Prior to joining ACCA Andrew was Director of Public Affairs at Betfair.com.
